Investing in the Future of Houston’s Students
We bring together philanthropy, community leaders, and educators to expand opportunity for students across Houston.
Turning Vision Into Action
Houston is a city that thinks big about the future.
The same should be true for our public education.
Philanthropy helps schools move faster, launch bold ideas, and expand opportunities for students across Houston.
The Houston ISD Foundation connects community leaders and philanthropic partners with the initiatives that help students and educators succeed.
Our New funding priorities
The Houston ISD Foundation works closely with district leadership, educators, and community partners to direct philanthropic investment where it can create the greatest impact.
Our refined approach to fundraising balances scale with equity—securing and investing approximately 70-80% of funds in districtwide initiatives that drive system-level impact, while allocating 20–30% to targeted support for schools with the greatest needs.
Academic Excellence & Priority Schools
Supporting school models and instructional innovation that accelerate student learning and strengthen academic outcomes.
Educator & Leadership Development
Investing in initiatives that recruit, empower, and retain high-quality educators and leaders, building a strong and sustainable pipeline of talent.
Student Postsecondary Pathways
Expanding access to real-world learning experiences, career pathways, and opportunities that prepare students for life after graduation.
Accelerating What Matters Most
The Foundation also maintains an Acceleration Fund that allows donors to support initiatives where the need is greatest. This flexible support helps launch new ideas and expand programs that improve outcomes for students across Houston.
Houston’s Students. Houston’s Future.
Houston ISD is the largest school district in Texas, serving more than 180,000 students across over 270 schools.
Nearly 80 percent of students come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, and many face challenges beyond the classroom.
The scale of this work is significant. So is the opportunity.
What happens in Houston can shape what is possible in public education.
When we invest in Houston’s students, we strengthen our city and expand opportunity at scale.
