What does the HISD Foundation fund? The HISD Foundation funds the district’s highest priorities set by the superintendent of schools and board of education.

Why a foundation? The majority of HISD’s financial resources are used to meet state-mandated requirements. Foundation funds support the district’s institutional priorities that are integral to providing a superior education to all students.

How does the HISD Foundation raise money? The HISD Foundation collaborates with area businesses and volunteers to sponsor a popular charity golf tournament each year, is the recipient of funds raised from the annual HISD State of the Schools Luncheon, engages support from former teachers and students through an annual mail campaign, and works with individuals who wish to name the Foundation in their will and/or make a gift of appreciated assets. The Foundation also works with other foundations for grant support.

Is my donation tax-deductible? Yes! The HISD Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

How do I leave HISD in my will? Please contact the HISD Foundation Office to learn how to donate gifts of appreciated assets, leave HISD in your will and/or set up a charitable annunity.
